01 /Establish what you are actually hearing
Describe whether the sound is a steady hum, airflow or repeated attempts to start, and approximately how long the pattern has continued. Do not assume every audible component is the compressor. Observe from outside the cabinet without removing covers or touching tubing. If the appliance seems louder than before, explain that separately from the length of operation. A new noise and a long run period may need different questions during diagnosis.
02 /Pair run time with a temperature record
Write down the settings and any existing thermometer readings, including the times and which compartment was measured. A refrigerator running often while maintaining its normal temperature is different from one that runs while the fresh-food section warms. GE's general guidance notes that loading and door activity can affect run time, but that does not establish normal operation for every model. Avoid judging the appliance solely by whether you hear it stop.
03 /Describe recent changes without altering the installation
Mention a large addition of contents, frequent door opening, a room-temperature change, relocation or a setting adjustment. Look only for accessible packages that block closure or normal internal vents. Do not pull the refrigerator out to inspect coils or assume that every model has an owner-cleanable condenser. Follow the exact manual for routine care. Repeated temperature adjustments can obscure the original pattern and are not a substitute for identifying a fault.
04 /Set a clear service question
Provide the complete model and explain whether the concern is noise, energy use, failure to cool or a combination. Without measured consumption, do not assume a specific electricity cost increase. Ask what diagnosis will establish and whether any proposed repair addresses the recorded change. Tell us about tight cabinetry or previous service. Parts, sealed-system work and model acceptance require review; a long-running sound does not justify a guaranteed compressor replacement.
05 /Plan service within the confirmed California ZIPs
ChantaFix is based in Glendale for California service. Check the property's ZIP against the 33 listed California service ZIPs, then describe the physical address, parking and appliance access. A listed ZIP is an eligibility match, not a reserved visit or acceptance of every address. Tell us if someone else must authorize work before an estimate can be approved.
06 /Diagnostic visit and repair approval
You receive a written estimate before repair work begins. Workmanship coverage is 90 days for the repaired issue; replacement parts follow manufacturer warranties. Use the California contact controls to discuss the appliance and request availability.
